Hi, I’m Emily, I can help.

My name is Emily Meindertsma, I am a Physical Therapist and a Pediatric Sleep Consultant. After witnessing my friends and family struggle to get their newborns to sleep, I was determined to do what ever it took to have a head start on sleep before my son was born. I read every book, blog, and post. I watched every video in a newborn sleep course. I was so excited to know there was a chance that my sleep may not suffer long term.

I knew that I needed my 8 hours every night or I was not going to be the person I wanted to be the next day.  Babies are the same, they are most happy, pleasant, and playful when they sleep!

We’ve all been given the same advice before the baby comes “stock up on sleep now”. There is a belief that once the baby comes there is no chance of quality sleep until they are grown up. My mission is to prove that IT CAN BE BETTER!

This is why I decided to become certified as a sleep consultant. I want and I need to change the narrative for new parents. Sleep is possible and we all need it. I will meet you where you are to develop an individualized plan to bring the necessity of sleep back into your home. You do not need to wait years, you can have it now.

  • "Before working with Emily, bedtime was a big mess. Our 4-year-old, the youngest, pretty much ruled the roost. Every night, we would send her on her way after her bath and hope for the best. And every night, she would pop out of her room like popcorn. So much for relaxing! She needed water, a backrub, something to eat, to ask a question, a specific toy she could not find, company, you name it. Sometimes, she would stay in her room, but then when we headed up to bed, she’d be all up in our grills with “I need someone to sleep with me / Can I sleep with you?” It was exhausting. All we needed was some rest for our weary working-parents-of-3 selves, and we certainly weren’t getting it. Let alone time to connect with each other. Enter Emily. One of the most rewarding things is seeing our young daughter grow as a leader - she’s now in charge of how things go at bedtime, and often reminds *us* what the “family facts” are. I am a lactation consultant and doula and have seen thousands of parents go through all kinds of stressful sleep situations. I would recommend Emily over and over again, and have already sung her praises to friends and clients alike. It’s amazing to experience the difference in our quality of life, and our whole family’s. Emily gave us the confidence to navigate special occasions, travel, and anything else we thought would make predictable sleep impossible. We now troubleshoot such things with ease, rather than thinking all routine will go out the window when it’s not a “normal” day. I forgot to mention one important thing. Our four-year-old is still breastfeeding. She was before we worked with Emily, and she still is. Emily honored the nursing relationship my daughter and I have created, throughout the whole process. And we have done some very natural weaning throughout the last couple months too, for which I’m super grateful. Often people think you can’t sleep train a breastfed baby or toddler.
